How DrillUp Uses AI
Last updated: August 4, 2026
This page is our transparency statement under Article 50 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689). It explains, in plain terms, which parts of DrillUp are produced by an AI system, who processes your data to produce them, and what those systems can and cannot do.
1. You are interacting with an AI system
The coaching voice in DrillUp is not a human coach. Your assessment results, your learning content, and the feedback on your daily reflections are written by an AI system, automatically and without a person reviewing them before you see them.
We say this up front because you are entitled to know it before you start, not after.
2. What is generated by AI
- Lessons and learning materials — the text of every lesson, including titles, explanations and quiz questions
- Learning paths — which lessons you are given, in which order, based on your assessment
- Assessment analysis — the improvement areas identified from your answers
- Daily reflection feedback — the analysis, summaries and suggested next-day actions written in response to what you wrote
- Weekly insights — the summary of patterns across your week's reflections, and any reading it recommends
- Focus cards and motivational statements — the titles and copy shown on your home feed
- Lesson audio — the narration voice is synthetic speech generated from the lesson text. It is not a recording of a human narrator.
3. What is not generated by AI
- Anything you write yourself — your reflections, notes and assessment answers are yours
- Your progress, streaks, points and achievements, which are calculated by ordinary program logic
- The mood you select at the start of a reflection. You tell us how you feel; we never try to detect it.
DrillUp does not use emotion recognition or biometric categorisation, and does not process biometric data of any kind. We do not analyse your face, your voice or your typing to infer how you feel.
Scope. DrillUp is a career tool. Assessments, learning content and reflection feedback are limited to your working day, your working practice and your professional progress. Our AI systems are instructed not to produce medical, psychological, dietary, sleep or fitness guidance, including on the Well-being & Balance track, which covers workload, boundaries and recovery time as working practice. Please keep reflections to your work — DrillUp is not a place to record health information, and it is not a substitute for professional support.
4. How AI-generated content is marked
Article 50(2) of the AI Act requires the output of a generative AI system to be marked, in a machine-readable format, as artificially generated.
- Text. Every response from our service that carries AI-generated text is tagged with machine-readable metadata identifying it as such, so the content stays identifiable as AI-generated wherever it is displayed or stored.
- Audio. Synthetic speech is watermarked at the point of generation by our speech provider (ElevenLabs, using SynthID), so the audio file itself remains detectable as AI-generated after it leaves DrillUp.
5. Which AI providers process your data
To generate the content above, we send the relevant parts of your data — including the free text you write in reflections — to the providers below. This is set out here in addition to the general description in our Privacy Policy.
| Provider | What it does | What we send |
|---|---|---|
| OpenRouter, Inc. (United States) | Routes our requests to the language models listed below | Assessment answers, reflection text, learning progress and the profile context needed to personalise content |
| Google (Gemini models), Anthropic (Claude models), OpenAI (GPT models), reached through OpenRouter | Generate the lesson, analysis and insight text | The same content, as forwarded by OpenRouter |
| ElevenLabs Inc. (United States) | Converts lesson text into synthetic speech | Lesson text only. No personal reflection content is sent for audio generation. |
These transfers leave the EEA. The safeguards we rely on are described in section 9 of our Privacy Policy.
6. Limits — what AI content can and cannot do
- It can be wrong. Generated lessons and analysis can contain factual errors, outdated claims or confident nonsense. Treat them as a prompt to think, not as a source of truth.
- It is not professional advice. DrillUp is a self-development tool. It is not medical, psychological, legal, financial or employment advice. If you are in distress, speak to a qualified professional.
- It does not make decisions about you that carry legal or similarly significant effects. Nothing generated here is shared with your employer, and nothing gates your employment, pay or education.
- It is personalised, not authoritative. Two users with identical answers may receive different content.
7. Human oversight and how to challenge output
You can delete your account from the app at any time. Doing so erases your reflections, journal entries, assessments, learning paths and progress, not merely your login.
To have a single reflection or piece of generated content erased without closing your account, email us at the address below and we will remove it. If a piece of generated content is wrong, harmful or offensive, report it through the in-app feedback option or by email; we review every report and can remove or regenerate the content.
8. Who regulates this
DrillUP Platform is established in Berlin, Germany, and is the provider of the AI systems described on this page within the meaning of the AI Act. Enforcement of the AI Act's transparency obligations sits with the competent national market surveillance authority, alongside the European Commission's AI Office. Your data-protection rights and the relevant supervisory authority are set out in our Privacy Policy.
