What the assessment measures

Twelve scenario questions, two for each of the six habits that most often decide whether a strong engineer keeps progressing. Each question describes a normal working week - a mid-sprint request, a meeting two levels up, a decision you disagree with - and asks what you actually do, not what you know you should do.

• Focus and prioritisation — whether your week goes the way you planned, and what happens when urgent work arrives.
• Visibility and communication — whether the people who decide your career know what you specifically did.
• Growth and learning — whether you are still getting better, and how quickly you hear that something is not working.
• Conflict and pressure — whether you raise a disagreement while it is still cheap, and how you handle a hard conversation.
• Direction and intent — whether you have decided where you are going and agreed what is missing with your manager.
• Leadership and delegation — whether you hand work over and address problems plainly, or do it all yourself.

What you get at the end

Your score on all six, the weakest one named as your archetype, what that pattern costs at promotion time, and three specific moves to change it - each linked to a playbook with the exact words to use.
